Just keeping her alive...I bought my '48 Chief 3 years ago. She was sitting for 35 years prior to being found in the back of a garage, with a couple of other old Indians.Originally Indian Red, this bike has been repainted (by the previous owner) Black with Red skirts and Red side lobes on the tanks. She is running with quite a few scratches and surface rust, but runs solid! In 2006, I rebuilt the entire front end; replacing the bearings in the frame, re-bushing the forks and having the forks and triple tree straightened. That was quite an experience (especially learning how to properly set ...... Read More

I have a 2001 Indian Chief Centenial. It's two tone red and white. Just a gorgeous bike! I had a little bit of a problem when the front tire fell through a trailer (rotten wood). I have the fender in the body shop and am looking for the paint codes. I'm on hold at this point. It's ready to be shot, but I have no paint!! Assistance is most appreciated.

Last week (or was it the week before?) I got the rear fender and wheel off. Started degreasing and cleaning up the frame. Took a look at the brake shoes, they look pretty darn good. Dad must have changed them when he had her going in 1979. House/Family projects have been a priority the last couple of weeks. Just need to clean up the saw dust on the other side of the garage from last weekend's project and it's back to the Indian - hopefully.
Too many projects - too little time.

It has been suggested I start a blog to document my restoration of my 741. I rescued it from a barn in MN. I have yet to obtain any manuals so I am spending time cleaning and identifying what I have. I seem to be missing a lot of parts but I will need to do a complete inventory as soon as I get the manuals. I am hoping to add some photos here as I go along.Just got to figure out how!

After inspecting the engine, I noticed the small end of the crank shaft with the gear pressed on the end has been slightly split and is marred at the end. It looks like someone tried to press off the ...... Read More

pictures of 741 starting on, looking for a rear Sport Scout fender to go with the front. May run something else on back if don't find one, saddlebags? Engine is finished, wheels are powder coated, need to sandblast tanks & frame, going to powder coat frame black, thought about red, can't decide. The sides of the fenders and center of the tanks will be black and silver marbilized, center fenders, sides of tanks red, tanks will either get a decal like pictured or a gold leaf Indian Head.
Some photos in Picture Gallery for now.

    Hello List,
I will be at Davenport with Gary Stark at Starklite's vending spots. Come buy and say hello, it will be great to see my old friends and meet new ones. I will have my 441 there to have judged for it's Senior award. I will also have a newly restored 47 Chief there to get judged and have it for sale. It should score in the very high ninetys first time judged. Looking foreward to seeing ya'll there.

Bought the Indian in 1965 in boxes. assembled it and rode it for two years. Dissassembled it with intedtion of restoring. Events intervened, Last year I hired a pro to do the restore. He was unbelievably meticulas. The result was fantastic. The bike is 95% original externally with matching numbers. All of the internal wearing parts are new. Now I have no place to store it and I cannot ride it. So Ihave to sell it. I'm asking $26,000.00 (The restoration cost me ~$30,00.00)
