I have a chance to but a 1953 chief, it has a frame up resto done and in mint condition. The bike has about 3 to 5 miles since the resto, my question is what do i need to look for? should be a #'s matching bike but not sure. what eles do I need to know? I have several other bikes but never bought an Indian before and a 53 at that. Thanks for the help.

Hi, Still need information about a 53 Indian Chief? One of the nicest restored examples can be found in a photo gallery at Jerry Greer's Indian Motorcycle parts web-site. There is also a very nice photo gallery of an unrestored 1953 Indian Chief at the website operated by someone who is called a name similar to "Wiwi". The 1952 and 1953 Chiefs are very similar. There is probably a hundred things that distinguishes these two years from earlier year Chiefs. If you are still interested in the information I'll reply with some. Let me know.
