I heard somewhere about installing an older Sportster distributor on an Indian 74 or 80 engine to gain the simplicity of automatic advance.  Does anyone know anything about this?  I won't mess with my mostly original 51 Chief.  Considering this for my 47 Chief bought in chopped condition.  Also modifying the 47 for hand clutch with an early Harley mousetrap set up to make riding easier and safer with my dysfunctional right leg.  Has any one done this mod?
